Ubuntu distros are a bit of a pain for Android development. Primarily related to the emulator. So to make it easier I've compiled a list of steps to take to get everything installed and configured so that you can be up and running with Android Studio and a hardware accelerated Android Emulator. **this instructions are bare bones with little amplifying information as to what the commands are doing, so excute these commands at your own risk.
