    Hello,

I am running OS 5.1, and installed Dropbox through the AppCenter. While this did install Dropbox software (nautilus-dropbox), it is missing a few features.

What is the proper/approved way to install Dropbox? I would like to have an icon in the notification Panel, as well as the ability to selectively sync specific folders.

Finally, what is the best way to redirect the Desktop / Documents / Pictures folders to a location within Dropbox? Is it as simple as using softlinks, or is there a different/preferred method since these are considered special folders?

    Thank you

    -Robert

    Hello,

I was able to address 2 of the 3 issues.

    1) I used the dropboxd app that I was able to install through the store. Using that command, I first excluded all folders from sync, and then selectively included just the folders I wanted to sync.

    2) I used soft links to redirect the Documents, Pictures, and Desktop folders from /home/$USER to /home/$USER/Dropbox/.....

    3) I installed a Desktop folder app from the store in order to get icons to display on the Desktop

Unfortunately, I was not able to figure out how to get a Dropbox notification icon to appear. However, dropboxd does pop up notification windows when a sync completes, which is better than nothing I suppose. Otherwise, you can use the command line to query sync status from dropboxd.

    Hope this helps!

    -Robert
