I'm following this guide, but having some issues installing Spotify on a fresh install of 0.4.1 Loki https://howtoelementary.org/how-to-install-spotify-in-elementary-os Here's the output from the commands: Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: spotify-client-0.9.17 : Conflicts: spotify-client Recommends: libavcodec53 but it is not installable or libavcodec52 but it is not installable or libavcodec-extra-53 but it is not installable or libavcodec-extra-52 but it is not installable Recommends: libavformat53 but it is not installable or libavformat52 but it is not installable or libavformat-extra-53 but it is not installable or libavformat-extra-52 but it is not installable E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. I've been toying with Linux distros for years but I'm very much an Elementary OS newbie. Just trying to get my go-to apps installed. Thanks! Aidan
This has been resolved by following the Debian package install instructions from Spotify's Linux installers page: https://www.spotify.com/us/download/linux/
