Hi folks- I'm a long-time W7 user [least-lousy OS with a lot of software and third-party help] wanting to go linux, but stymied by software gaps so far. My problem is that i'm very distractable [a neuro-condition, really] so i *need* some Windows 7 freewares like Cinemadrape [puts frames around whatever you want to focus on], WindowFX [darkens backgrounds, and animates window openings/closings], and Fences 1 [2 mouse clicks to instant-clean desktop]. WinRoll [rolls up windows into titlebars] and CursorFX [animated cursors] would be nice too. My question: can Elementary OS do all of above natively, or can it somehow be made to accomplish all above functions? If so, how???? Please help me escape my windows dungeon! thanks for your time! Marinus What's the most inconvenient thing in the world? Diarrhea for a crane operator!
You properly want Ubuntu with unity if you want all kinds of eyecandy effects. they have compiz you need to tweak. Out of memory you need to install compiz-settings and ubuntu tweak tool.
It's partly my fault that you tunnel-visioned in on the eye-candy part- i muddied the waters by throwing in some eye-candy stuff. But the core of my question/appeal was for the opposite- for UNdistractors- background dimmers etc. So, no offence, your advice doesn't help.
