Hi, I have had the following happen a couple of times on a new install of eOS (elementary OS 5.1.7 Hera): When I wake up from suspend the desktop picture suddenly disappears and is replaced by a grey background. If I try and logout or hit restart, I end up on a black screen with a blinking cursor at the top left. The system is still alive as I can ssh into it from another machine and reboot remotely. It is fairly old hardware but plenty powerful enough. Dual-Core Intel® Core™2 CPU 6700 @ 2.66GHz Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Caicos [Radeon HD 6450/7 8.1 GB memory 102.7 GB storage (SATA SSD) (+ 120 GB for /home) I was wondering if it is anything to do with my swapfile. It is much smaller than RAM ➜ swapon -s Filename Type Size Used Priority /swapfile file 2097148 0 -2 This was how the system set itself up. Thanks in advance for any help, Martyn
Hi, I have the same problem on an old Netbook ( IdeaPad S10-3 Intel Atom N455, 1.6GHz, Mobile Intel 3150). I read that it is necessary to have a swap partition and not only a swap file. My swap partition is twice bigger than the ram but after wake up the mirror is black. Fan is active but mirror is still black. Another login (strg+alt+F1) is not available. Enter the password to the dark is also not function. How can we suspend use? It is a must have for me on an old Netbook. Thanks in advance. Tobbes
