Hi, I installed Freya on my daughter's new laptop [a replacement for a broken Mac], and she is experiencing frequent complete lockups. Google tells me this seems to be a common problem, but I have not found any solutions. I tried to convince her that Linux/Freya was a viable alternative to an expensive Mac, but she is now not impressed and understandably so. Ctrl-Alt-F1 / Ctrl-Alt-F7 is suggested as a workaround, but does anyone have an answer or could point me in the right direction? Thanks
In my case it was the "lockup" was caused by nouveau driver. You may check your graphics card install proprietary drivers.
