    Hello,

I'm trying to install 5.1 Hera on a Dell Inspiron Laptop. The installation fails after formatting the partitions and a certain amount of files have been copied to the disk (see pic 1). After clicking the OK button, it says the installer has crashed (see pic 2).

When I reboot, nothing happens since grub was not installed. So I booted off USB again, and manually installed grub. This allowed the system to boot, but then I got a different error (see pic 3). I was hoping that the installer crashed after all files were copied to the disk, but that does not appear to be the case.

I have tried multiple times, and the crash appears to be consistent. Is this a known issue with a workaround? Is it possible to analyze an installer log file to determine why it's crashing?

    Any help is appreciated

    -Robert

Maybe the installation medium was corrupted or the installation files on it are corrupt? What happens when you try another USB dongle? Or with UNETBOOTIN?

I used unetbootin to image the drive with the ISO. However, I'll try a different USB device this evening and post an update.

@paradise - Your solution worked. I burned the ISO to DVD, and was able to successfully install the OS onto the laptop.

    Thank you!

I have an HP, Elitebook 745 g5, running ryzen U2500, with 8 gb ram and 256 gb hdd, it tries to boot, but stays on a gray screen with a cursor, a round cursor, and I can move the cursor, but nothing happens, I tried all options on the Bios and all is the same, legacy enable. Safe boot disable, legacy disable, safe boot disable, legacy disable and safe boot enable, and all the time same results, is there an issue with AMD? Or there is something that I am missing with my bios?

Yeah. Same here with the AMD. Where you able to rid yourself of the gray screen? I have the gray screen that reads: "Installer Crashed". Unable to boot into the USB drive or really rid myself of that screen, really.
