I installed the latest Elementary 64 for a Toshiba laptop and it appeared to install successfully, but after a restart without the USB with ISO image, it errors that media not found. I took the auto option to delete the hard disk contents when installing.

I also had the same issue with Manjaro. What could I be missing?

Hmm, it sounds like the bootloader isn't installed on the right place. You may want to try supergrubrepair , it does detect any OS installed. Of course not the best solution, but i think nice to know if supergrub repair is detecting the fresh installed linux?
