Massively new to Linux and even newer to Elementary OS so sorry if the question is stupid! I've got a c720 Chromebook that I bought because it was cheap and seemed to cover the basics. It was great for a while but I eventually got frustrated and discovered Crouton which lets you run Linux on top of Chrome OS which gave me my first taste of Linux! Recently though I did a full install and this time with Elementary and it's been amazing However recently I started going through a book on how to program with python and wrote a hello world program. It worked great but I didn't realise that it did at first. According to the book, if you double click on the file the terminal should come up with the words hello world and then close, however it should do this incredibly fast so you may not catch it. I didn't read that far before the testing the program (obvious mistake!) and when I didn't notice anything after double clicking I tried changing the default program to the terminal. That didn't work, however if I type: python /home/user/tom/hello.py then it works no problem. The only issue now is that I can't seem to set the default for the file type to be python again. When I right click on it, go to 'open with...', 'other application' and then 'view all applications' python isn't on the list. Is there maybe a way of changing the default via the terminal? Thanks!
