Hi, I'm a complete newbie, this is my first Linux install so please be gentle with me!

I am trying to install Elementary OS on an old windows desktop I have, I downloaded the latest .iso yesterday and wrote it to CD. I booted from this CD without installing to HDD to see whether I liked the look of Elementary which I do. I shutdown and rebooted so I could install to HDD and I got the following message (see attached photo):

end Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

When I remove the CD the PC boots into windows fine.

    Any ideas please?

    Cheers,

    Jon
