I'm having a problem with dependencies that I just can't seem to figure out. After doing an update of the system I seem to be missing pantheon files. If I attempt to install it I get an error about not having libpantheon-files-core0 installed. Drilling down I find I'm missing libgail-3-0 and have the "incorrect" version of libgtk-3-0 (3.14.15-0ubuntu1~14.04~ricotz1) where I need 3.10.8-0ubuntu1.6 apparently. From what I can understand 3.14 is correct for Freya and installing the 3.10.8 version seems to uninstall a fair bit of elementary os... Any ideas?

    I'm running Elementary OS Freya.

    Thanks!!

I seem to have finally figured it out (as you do when you finally bow down and ask a question). It seems to have been an incorrect source issue. What I did was to remove a large number of the unused source lists in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ some of which included daily repositories. I then uncommented the patches list so it matched a clean elementary os install. That seems to have fixed it.

To see what a clean install uses, just fire up a vm or boot into it and copy the file /etc/apt/sources.list and files in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/

    Hope that helps!
