    Hi,
I've been wanting to add my Documents and Downloads folders to the dock/plank in Elementary OS.
As I do not like how if I drag them to the dock from file manager it creates a black rectangle displaying the contents of that folder (not very easy to distinguish between if you want several folders on the dock), I've been attempting to create .desktop files in gedit with the Exec= path set to the respective folders. I could get this working flawlessly on Ubuntu Gnome, however, when I tried to recreate the process in Elementary I've not been having much luck. At first I could not get the launchers to execute the command until I discovered the file must be placed in the /usr/share/application directory. I am now stuck with another problem where these files/folders wont stay in the dock after restarting the system they disappear even with Keep in Dock selected.

I'd be really grateful if anyone has any ideas about solving this. Thanks
