I am also trying to dual boot elementary OS Freya 0.3.1 with Windows 10 and have encountered alike problems. I have googled every solution but to no avail.
Hi, I am having a GRUB issue also. I get a message that says GRUB can not be installed to /local/ . I then get asked to pick a new location for GRUB. I pick one but my laptop still won't boot when I reboot the system. I am using the laptop specs below ACER ASPIRE 5517 AMD processor 64-bit 4GB ram 60GB HD
Hi, After some searching i figured out that I had Legacy GRUB installed on my system. The Freya installer would not install GRUB2 over it for some reason. I had to delete Legacy GRUB from my MBR by typing this command into a terminal with sudo ' dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdc bs=446 count=1 ' After I did this the Freya installer was able to install GRUB2 onto my hard drive.
Wow nice! I was trying more than 3 hours to install Freya on an Ultrabook, it ended up everytime in the grub command line. Thanks for this solution!!
