Because on the top there is something correctly displayed, it seems more like a problem due to install compiz. Better is to install proprietary drivers "alone" , and reboot first to be sure that nothing other is corrupting the system. You should start in Recovery-Mode (choose grub line2 while booting) and choose network mode >> root >> and apt-get autoremove compiz again.
