For me, once I configured ZRAM things ran much more smoothly on my 4GB laptop, but check first, which part of your system is getting stressed (e.g. if you're running at 100% CPU, then zram won't help, but if your CPU is ok and your constantly running into your swap space, then ZRAM is what you need) This article should explain how to configure it. https://adwilson99.wixsite.com/joi-linux/post/zram-setup
