    Hello,

I have installed Elementary on my iMac and im very excited about this distro. I've had some trouble with the Radeon 4850 but I managed to replace it with a 6750M - and now it works... nearly.

I was booting the Live DVD (try Elementary) and got all working, with Brightness control etc... (pic1) But as I installed it from the same DVD that I was using for try, the Brightness Icon disappeared, there is no possibility to adjust brightness. (pic2)

    What can I do?
Some searching brought me to /sys/class/backlight/*
On my Installation it is an empty folder, on the Live System it contains /sys/class/backlight/apple_backlight/*

I have nothing changed - just installed Elementary OS and noticed the missing icon top right...

Thanks for your help - geeetings from germany

    Okay,

I found a solution, but im not quite sure what the problem was.

First i reinstalled Elementary after deleting all partitions from the SSD. As far as i can say, i used the bios-Mode this time. No fancy graphics while booting just plain text.
Just to make sure that no missed boot options or uefi, grub... things going wrong.

I choosed NOT to use 3rd Party Software and didnt knstall updates while Installation process for the case the problem depends on Kernel version etc...

Now it works! The Brightness control is working after Elementary is installed - even after all updates has finished.

Just for someone with the same problem
