Apparently Elementary OS installed a AMD cpu microcode update for my FX-9590 cpu without my permission. I've heard horror stories of backdoors built into firmware updates, so I'd rather have a buggy cpu than risk being spied on. I want the update uninstalled. I don't trust AMD anymore. Is anyone else here using a Ubuntu based distro and is familiar with microcode updates? Sorry if I sound paranoid, but the issues I'm referring to is legit, evidence being Windows 10 for example, and there are cpu backdoors built into any AMD cpu newer than the FX Piledriver series, so unfortunately I'm forced to use older tech. I don't even see the AMD microcode update listed in the AppCenter anymore, so I don't know what to do. Please help, thanks.
In the meantime I've just uninstalled the "Additional Drivers" component from my updates list. I wonder if that uninstalled the cpu microcode update for me and put back the old version...
