Hi there! I've got a question concerning the wingpanel (that's the bar at the top, right?). Every 20-30 s or so, it disappears for a short time, all windows move up to fill the screen, then it reappears and everything shifts down again. Does anyone else have that problem or even better know a solution? Best regards, Fo
Hi, I've got a similar problem, perhaps the same origin. My wingmal / application panel only shows up shortly after pressing Super-Space (with Super = Windows key), then disappearing again. Together with this, the clock and the icons in the top right corner appear and disappear. I read the messages here http://elementaryos.stackexchange.com/questions/7680/wingpanel-not-responding-loki http://elementaryos.stackexchange.com/questions/1458/wingpanel-crashing-after-update and deinstalled the said critical packages with sudo apt-get remove indicator-synapse sudo apt-get remove wingpanel-indicator-power with no effect. dmesg shows the following signature after pressing Super-Space: [ 1192.440776] do_trap: 27 callbacks suppressed [ 1192.440781] traps: wingpanel[1840] trap int3 ip:7f2cb162ea5b sp:7ffe44412fe0 error:0 [ 1195.781711] traps: wingpanel[2230] trap int3 ip:7ff350814a5b sp:7ffdfb2f1a80 error:0 [ 1197.102345] traps: wingpanel[2273] trap int3 ip:7ff7290a5a5b sp:7ffe31065430 error:0 [ 1198.130815] traps: wingpanel[2309] trap int3 ip:7f34b49d4a5b sp:7ffdb0d0c670 error:0 [ 1199.207306] traps: wingpanel[2340] trap int3 ip:7fc5d162ca5b sp:7ffe970a8970 error:0 [ 1200.257826] traps: wingpanel[2372] trap int3 ip:7f9e8e1bfa5b sp:7ffecd270340 error:0 [ 1201.375853] traps: wingpanel[2405] trap int3 ip:7f6d0148ea5b sp:7ffd3af93460 error:0 [ 1232.783186] traps: wingpanel[5526] trap int3 ip:7f04070eda5b sp:7ffdf8575870 error:0 [ 1235.050665] traps: wingpanel[5688] trap int3 ip:7f173264ea5b sp:7fff02a82f90 error:0 [ 1492.793089] traps: wingpanel[6196] trap int3 ip:7f85050d1a5b sp:7ffe343d44c0 error:0 I don't get information from this, but is there an experienced hacker who knows where to tweak by this...? Thanks for any hints, as this is an annoying bug/feature...
the trap error is showing sigint 3 == simular to ctrl+c to interrupt a program. But: there are simular problems with Gnome 3.20 and some versions of the nvidia drivers. IF you have an Nvidia card, and you are using the prop. nvidia drivers, try if you have the same problem with the nouveau driver
Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I have a nvidia card. To be honest, I was that upset about that bug that I installed Linux Mint meanwhile. I will give elementary a second chance in some time again.
Hi, same problem but I have AMD APU, no Nvidia. I tried uninstall synapse and power without success. Any idea?
