    Hi Community,

I don't understand why in Loki important tools are removed by default:

    - Why is there no add-apt-repository available?
    - Why is in Loki additional-drivers not preinstalled, to install nvidia/amdgpu-pro driver?
    - Why is there no GDebi Installer (.deb rightclick, install) preinstalled?

As long as there is no alternative, this decision is very very VERY bad. So, why!?

My system was lagging and stuttering playing HD content, installed Additional Hardware then my Nvidia driver, everything is great now.

Gdebi is also very very useful.

i second this, why on earth would you remove an easy way to use alternate drivers? x.org drivers are constantly locking up for me and i get the feeling that if i was able to use the the propriatery driver this wouldn't be happening

Hi there, you and i have the same concern and i'm wondering if we are sharing the same problem. After installing Python,PPA,Gdebi i can't even use the command "apt-get-repository".It says "command not found".I've been searching around but no improvement. It worked fine on Freya.

The devs removed it. They said, as i heard, because of too much wrong bugreports wich are PPAs and not elementary connected. Oo. Personally i think this is bulls***

in an interview, saw it on youtube but can't recall who did it, they said it was because PPAs can present vulnerabilities and other issues to the system and could complicate things for users new to linux.

    This!
The same approach that you have on mobile-phones. There are pros and cons. the ultimate way is that one day we don't need PPAs :p
