I wasn't happy with elementary I was just going to use windows so I deleted the Linux partitions with windows partitions editor. I restarted and my computer went into grub rescue. I tried some solutions I've found but most require a recovery disk from windows. I have one but I can't open bios to boot from a disk. I have a lenovo thinkpad n580 and the button to open bios is f2. I've tried that, and function+f2 but nothing works. Please help!!!

You can use Super Grub Disk. Unfortunately, their website is currently down but the google cache offers a download mirror:

http://webcache.googleusercontent.c....supergrubdisk.org/+&cd=1&hl=de&ct=clnk&gl=ch >> Download Suber Grub Disk >> Recommended download (Floppy, CD & USB in one) (Valid for i386, x86_64, and x86_64-efi):
    https://forja.cenatic.es/frs/download.php/file/1844/super_grub2_disk_hybrid_2.02s3.iso <<

You have to burn this ISO on a CD/DVD or create bootable stick (format before with FAT 32, important) with unetbootin for example. just follow this instruction:

And now boot from CD/DVD or USB. Super Grub Disk is very easy to understand, just choose "Everything" in the menu, and it's going to display Windows for booting again.

OK well I don't expect anyone to believe this but after hours of troubleshooting and frustration, I was about to give up and rebooted a last time and hit f2 and what do ya know, bios came up. So I'm reinstalling elementary os and everything is fine. Thanks for the help guys

glad to hear it worked out. I think as we get more members on the forums the support will get better.
