Hi, I have an small problem. I use ElementaryOS on an older pc with an Radeon RV370 GPU. But the xorg server use an VMware GPU driver?! glxinfo | grep -i vendor server glx vendor string: SGI client glx vendor string: Mesa Project and SGI Vendor: VMware, Inc. (0xffffffff) OpenGL vendor string: VMware, Inc. So every is slow and bad to use Have anyone an idea how I cam use the radeon driver for xorg/OpenGL? Regards
Hey SQ4R3, I'm not quite sure, but could you try editing: Code (Text): /etc/X11/xorg.conf Search for Identifier "Configured Video Device and change the value behind Driver to "radeon". After restarting, the radeon driver should be active.
Hi, thanks a lot for your answer. I hwve read about the xorg.conf in some boards at people wo have the same Problem on ubuntu. But I don't have the xorg.conf :/ When I create one, do xorg/elementary read it?
You can create the xorg.conf automatically. CTRL-ALT-F1 to switch to tty0 Log-In switch to root shell (su, sudo -i, ...) service lightdm stop X -configure cp /root/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf service lightdm start Switch back to tty0 again and logout Switch back to Desktop using CTRL-ALT-F7 Hope this helps.
