I try to connect my Samsung ML-1865W-Series printer. The printer is recognized but the driver is missing. The system hangs on the message ''Searching for drivers''
Hi Marc Zweili, my elementary provides two kind of "Add Printer" icons. Have you tried the other one? See here: How to connect a shared printer (Screenshot)
I have problems with a black and white laser printer conected by usb (brother HL-2030) In my case printer is recognized but then the set up hangs for ever on "installation". However after reboot the printer was installed and printed perfect test page. BUT I can not print any images or pdf files. they are somehow duplicated and just two halves of the image is printed divided in the middle of the page by an empty line of about a centimetre in width...? odf text documents however print perfectly.....? Have reinstalled printer several time Any suggestions? Thanks
I have the same problem with my Brother MFC 9460 CDN printer. It finds the printer and installs it but then hangs on the "Searching for drivers" window.
Don't know how, maybe some updates later, it prints by now image files, at least if I start the print dialogue inside photo viewer...?
@Amr0d: Would be good if you specify if despite it "hangs on install" it still installs and is able to print at least a Test Page, as in my case. (And in my case it seems to even prints images by now - see my second comment)
Well, with "it hangs on install" I meant that the "Searching for drivers" window stays there like forever and it won't close if you try to. //Edit tried to print a testpage and I didn't get any errors and the page itself got printed fine but the "Searching for drivers" window is still there.
It seems to be similar to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/switchboard-plug-printers/+bug/1432427 You should put your comment there, that the developer speedup their bugfix
