Hello I need some help figuring out what is Wrong with my WIFI CONNECTION when using proprietary drivers from NVIDIA I have a brand new MSI MODERN A10 with i7 10 and 2 gb geforce. It came without OS and i installed my OS of choice ELEMENTARY OS HERA that is based in UBUNTU 18.04.03 LTS. My Kernel is the latest 5.4.0-52-generic on elementaryOS hera 5.1.7 hera. When using the open source driver "nouveau" my WIFI is stable and achives a very high speed; When i change to the NVIDIA driver 450 my WIFI speed drops down and i can't even connect to 5G network (i can connect to the 2.4 network); when i run in terminal modinfo iwlwifi: the anwser in no module iwlwifi is found; my wifi is managed... so some help is needed thanks
Interesting. I'm not sure what the problem could be, so I'll rattle a couple of things off the top of my head. 1) can you post more info on your wifi card and nvida card by using lspci and lsusb. 2) Could it be an overheating problem, to check this download "psensor" from the AppCenter and monitor when using the nouveau dirver,vs when using the nvida driver. 3) It could be an issue with the drivers conflicting. This article makes a few suggestions (https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=296348) basically trying older versions of both the nvidia and wifi drivers to try and find a stable combination that works. If you can share the output of lspci and lsusb, that may also give us more info.

Hello adwilson99 Just a quick post about LMSENSORS working with nvidia - and i think all is normal, i.e., the temperature is normal, but the wifi is very slow....now i dont know i why i can connect to a 5g network but the wifi speed is 18 mbps - with nouveua drivers my wifi speed is around 200 mbps (sometimes more). Thanks
Thanks for the additional info. Even though the wifi works when you don't use the nvida driver, I'm still suspecting the wifi driver. (many of these have power saving modes, it's possible that the power saving is kicking in when the nvida is in use). Anyhow. from your lspci. I believe this is your wifi card: Can you post the output of Code (Text): dmesg and also Code (Text): lspci -nnk | grep 0280 -A3 lets see if there are any conflicts reported when the system is starting up.
Hello adwilson99 Thank you again for your time After the last update i can now connect to 5g using nvidia but the speed is slow and also unstable and there must be a reason... here is the output of spci -nnk | grep 0280 -A3 paulo@raven:~$ lspci -nnk | grep 0280 -A3 00:14.3 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Device [8086:02f0] Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device [8086:0034] Kernel driver in use: iwlwifi Kernel modules: iwlwifi the ouput of dsmeg is the the file (it is too long) and here is my internet speed (in two meters range of the router) Retrieving speedtest.net configuration...
