I recently installed elementary OS Freya and so far it looks really good but for a major drawback for me, wifi doesn't work. When it asks for the password I type in the correct password (I've checked) and it the connecting wheel spins for a few seconds and then it asks for the password again, if I type it in, it does the same thing as before, and if I press cancel then it disconnects from wifi. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
Hello Wolveon Welcome! What kind of encryption type is your Wifi configured? Maybe this information helps for further troubleshooting.
Hello Wolveon, i'm not that a WIFI specialist .. It seems more likely an issue with the firmeware/driver concerning this encryption type. Of course, normally WPA2 Personal isn't any problem for every newer ubuntu.. My only idea is to install the b43 driver package, with the hope that you have such a wifi chip in use: Code (Text): sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer Does it connect after installing this firmeware package?
I tried but it says it was unable to locate package firmware-b43-installer. I also tried connecting to ethernet but that didn't work either, it went in a loop similar to the wiifi, it just didn't ask for a password, but it wouldn't connect. I am so sorry about how annoying my case is, thank you for trying to help me.

ElementaryOS 0.3 should provide this package, here's my test: And, here you can see, this package is a part of Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr (eOS 0.3): http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?k...aller&searchon=names&suite=trusty§ion=all Do you have the old Version ElementaryOS Luna installed instead of Freya? This might be the point? Whats your System Settings > Info saying?
I have installed Freya, it says so in system settings, I even tried to install the firmware-b43-installer from the website you directed me by putting it on a USB drive and opening it in elementaryOS but it said "Dependency is not satisfiable: b43-fwcutter (>=1:018-2) Perhaps it would be good to tell you that my wireless card is a TP Link TL-WN881ND
OK Could you copy the complete outpout from sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer ? The response will tell us which package currently is in use for your wlan chip.
