Hey Daniel, for what exactly are you thinking you will use the money? A project like omgubuntu.org.uk is easy to start, its more like a simple website with collaboration between the writers. What I would suggest: Buy one of the best voted wordpress theme from themeforest.com, rent a webspace with php7 available (its way more faster than php5) and buy a domain for 7-12$ a year. So the costs are: 60$ Theme, 1time 0$ Wordpress 3-6$ a month for the webspace 7-12$ a year for the domain I personally dont see the requirement of 500$. Of course the time you invest is not payed this way, but its a cool hobby The big part is, to write first articles which are relevant and long enough that Google will index them and secondly, to get more people who are willing to write for your project with you together.
