I guess it is a hardware problem because it occurs in various browsers (tried chromium and midori): I'm running Freya beta2 live from a flash drive in an old Thinkpad X61S laptop. I tried acessing the url https://www.google.com/chrome/ from Midori and it resulted in a black screen. Then, I installed Chromium from the application store, and tried again acessing https://www.google.com/chrome/, this time from Chromium, and it also resulted in a black screen. I tested a lot of other webpages and navigated for about 3 hours without a single problem. Freya is running fine, except for this "black screen" when I try acessing this page. PS: I did a Freya's full install and the problem persists, so unfortunatelly it's not a "live system" problem. I also tested with Luna, Mint, Xubuntu and other Ubuntu variations and all of them worked, the problem occurs just with Freya :-( So, it is not a hardware problem in general, but something related to Freya's hardware support. These are the Thinkpad X61S specs: http://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo...sta-business-1-gb-ram-80-gb-hdd-series/specs/ Any ideas about what could be causing this problem?
Curious to see what happens when you take a screenshot. Also, curious to see what happens if you use Chrome or Firefox. Looks like you're not the only one: http://askubuntu.com/questions/508796/ubuntu-14-04-chromium-causes-black-screen http://askubuntu.com/questions/469994/google-chrome-black-screen-in-xubuntu-14-04 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2247572 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9954522/google-chrome-full-black-screen
Don't know if this will help but I have installed chromium and Elementary OS in a virtual machine (VBox) and the black screen appears only when you have enabled 3D acceleration in the graphic section of the machine
