I have a dual monitor set-up which was working fine until I updated using the software update tool. Now my laptop's monitor's backlight is super low. I can't change the brightness via power settings. Can anyone help me fix this? My external monitor is fine.
I've just done a quick check, and eOS doesn't seem to include command line utilities for backlight control. You could install 'xbacklight', then try 'xbacklight -set 50' (sets brightness to 50% of maximum) or 'xbacklight -inc 10' (increase brightness by 10%). Edited to fix punctuation... I may be a little pedantic
Its weird, the problem seems to have corrected itself. I'm still not sure as to why it happened, but at least it was only temporary. I went ahead and installed 'xbacklight', however, just in case. I just had a quick question. Since I have two monitors, would 'xbacklight' set the brightness for both, or can I specify a individual monitor? Thanks for the input! I was starting to feel a little hopeless after having no response to my question for a few days lol.
I'm not entirely sure. Most external monitors use their own software to control brightness, so I'd assume this only affects your laptop, but try 'man xbacklight', that should give you the information you need.
