guys, please help me how to enable desktop in elementary os freya /edit solution: https://elementaryforums.com/index....ght-click-in-elementaryos-freya.198/#post-232
Thanks for the reply, I am sorry I don't know the exact term for that. What I want is access to the content that i put in the desktop to be visible on the home screen(unlike files>home>desktop) and also i would like to know whether i can get the option to create a new folder on the home screen it self by right clicking on it Please see the link below if you can't understand what I mean though this tutorial did not work for me
I've got found this: http://mylinuxideas.blogspot.ch/2015/04/enable-desktop-icons-and-right-click-on.html Installation nautilus + dconf-editor: Code (Text): sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends nautilus dconf-tools But this solution isn't that working for me. And org → pantheon → cerbere is on another place. Any ideas ?
Just find my blog once again I have updated some steps install nautilus dconf-tools, sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install nautilus dconf-tools open dconf-tools and go to org → gnome → nautilus→ desktop and tick on any option. which you want to view on desktop. Then go to, org → pantheon → cerbere and add 'nautilus -n' entry as follows. ['wingpanel', 'plank', 'slingshot-launcher --silent', 'nautilus -n'] Open Terminal and type and execute following command, nautilus -n Again open dconf-editor and go to, org → gnome → desktop → background and tick on Show-Desktop-Icons box Updated blog is available on following link, http://mylinuxideas.blogspot.in/2015/04/enable-desktop-icons-and-right-click-on.html I have personally tested it on one physical system and one VM also. It is working fine.
Thank you very much Mukesh, your solution is absolutely working. There is one little correction (on my elementary), i had to add "nautilus -n" on org > pantheon > desktop > cerbere. Summary to enable Desktop-Icons and RightClick on Elementary OS Freya: Code (Text): sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends nautilus dconf-tools Code (Text): #Start dconf-tools with this bash command: dconf-editor org → gnome → nautilus→ desktop and tick on any option. which you want to view on desktop. org → pantheon → desktop → cerbere and add 'nautilus -n' entry as follows. ['wingpanel', 'plank', 'slingshot-launcher --silent', 'nautilus -n'] Open Terminal and type and execute following command: nautilus -n org → gnome → desktop → background and tick on Show-Desktop-Icons box See Screenshots: Result: More Background Informations, see Mukesh's Blog: http://mylinuxideas.blogspot.in/2015/04/enable-desktop-icons-and-right-click-on.html . I'm going to mark this Thread as Solved.
Sorry for posting into an old thread, but is there a way to change the font color of the icons? The black font doesn't look nice with most of my favorites wallpapers.
i have no 'cerbere' folder! Can someone tell me where it is, or how to get it? I have Elementary OS Freya, just downloaded this week. I want to enable desktop icons and right click.
Ehm.. I am not the pro, but you may click on the "cerbere" between your "calculator" and "desktop", are there the same options?
Wow I am really blind, didnt even see that one. Thanks for replying. How do I edit the entry? I tried double clicking, right clicking and googling this question. :3
